On the eve of Friday‍‍`s second Test against Australia, Sri Lanka‍‍`s team experienced a Covid-19 outbreak, with Dhananjaya de Silva, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Asitha Fernando all testing positive for the virus.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed on Thursday that "all three players were found to be positive following a Rapid Antigen Test done yesterday."

The hosts are attempting to recover from their devastating 10-wicket loss in the first Test of the two-match series that occurred in just three days.

Maheesh Theekshana, Dinuth Wellalage, Prabath Jayasuriya, and all-rounder Lakshita Manasinghe were already included to Sri Lanka‍‍`s spin bowling contingent, along with off-spinner Lakshita Manasinghe.

Lakshan Sandakan, a left-arm wrist spinner who last participated in a Test in 2018, was inserted into the lineup on Thursday as additional insurance.

After testing positive during the first Test, Angelo Mathews has rejoined the team, although Praveen Jayawickrama was already out after testing positive for Covid on Tuesday.
