Bangladesh has expressed strong disapproval of India‍‍`s comments regarding its internal matters, calling them "unexpected" and "undesirable."

The comments came after protests erupted in Dhaka, where angry students and citizens damaged the house of Bangladesh‍‍`s founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Dhanmondi 32.

This was in response to political statements made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her visit to India.

On Sunday, February 9, Bangladesh‍‍`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, addressed the media, responding to India‍‍`s involvement in Bangladesh‍‍`s internal affairs.

He stated that Sheikh Hasina’s political remarks made while in India had not been well-received by the people of Bangladesh.

Alam added that the interim government had already clarified its stance on the situation that unfolded in Dhanmondi on February 5.

Regarding India‍‍`s Ministry of External Affairs‍‍` comment on February 6, he stressed that such remarks were "unexpected and undesirable."

He also emphasized,

"Bangladesh does not interfere in the internal matters of any other country, and we expect the same from other countries."

Furthermore, Alam strongly criticized Hasina for allegedly using social media and other platforms from Delhi to spread false and misleading information in an attempt to create instability in Bangladesh.

As a result, the Bangladesh government summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka on Thursday, February 6, to deliver a formal protest letter.

The following day, India summoned Bangladesh‍‍`s Acting High Commissioner in Delhi to discuss the issue further.
