An EU vessel has been tracking the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah, currently held captive by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, according to a report released by the European Union on Wednesday, cited by ABC News, highlights the ongoing efforts to track and ensure the safety of the vessel and its crew.
The EU ship, deployed as part of ‍‍`Operation Atlanta,‍‍` has been closely tailing the cargo ship MV Abdullah, described as being followed "like a shadow," as per statements from the EU force.

Somali pirates confiscated the ship, MV Abdullah in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday, and  reportedly took it to Somalia. As of 11am on Wednesday, the ship was about 275 nautical miles away from the Somalian coast.

Among the 23 crew members, 11 are from Chittagong, two from Noakhali and one each from Natore, Naogaon, Feni, Faridpur, Lakshmipur, Barisal, Netrakona, Sirajganj, Tangail and Khulna.

MV Abdullah is owned by SR Shipping – a sister company of the Chittagong-based Kabir Steel Re-rolling Mills (KSRM) Ltd. All crew members are being held hostage by the pirates, said KSRM’s media adviser Mizanul Islam.

Despite these developments, the latest information reveals that the Bangladeshi vessel MV Abdullah, still under pirate control, has docked at the Habio port in Somalia, as confirmed by Commodore M Maqsood Alam, director general of the shipping department.

Efforts to reclaim control of the vessel are underway, with SR Shipping initiating the process. To facilitate this, coordination efforts are being undertaken with the government and the International Maritime Organization to ensure a swift and safe resolution to the situation.
