Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a set of 20 directives aimed at ensuring safety, discipline, and smooth operations at bus terminals across the capital.
The public notice, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, was released on Monday, targeting transport owners, workers, passengers, and pedestrians.
For Transport Owners and Workers:
Key instructions include strict adherence to departure schedules, prohibition of boarding outside designated terminals, barring unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering terminals, and ensuring all buses have valid documents and licensed drivers. Overcharging passengers, carrying goods on rooftops, and any misconduct by drivers or helpers will not be tolerated. All drivers must be drug-free and maintain professionalism.
For Passengers:
Passengers are urged to board from official terminals or stops, avoid rooftop travel, refrain from arguing with transport staff, and keep personal belongings secure. They are also advised not to entrust unknown individuals with their luggage and to remain alert with their valuables.
For Commuters:
The DMP instructs pedestrians to avoid boarding or disembarking in the middle of the road, use footbridges, and refrain from illegal vehicle parking. Any suspicious person or object should be reported to the Traffic Control Room at 01320080897.
DMP called for full cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure a safe and uninterrupted journey home for Eid travelers.
