A massive fire broke out in the Rupnagar residential area of Mirpur’s Shialbari in Dhaka late Tuesday morning.
Eight units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are currently working to bring the blaze under control.
According to officials, the fire started around 11:30 am on October 14 at Sardar Garments and Cosmic Pharma, two establishments located in the Rupnagar area.
Initially, two fire-fighting units were dispatched to the scene, and later six more units joined the operation as the flames intensified.
Confirming the incident, Rozina Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service headquarters control room, said that the first two units left for the site at 11:35 a.m., followed by additional reinforcements shortly afterward.
“The fire-fighting operation is still ongoing,” she said, adding that the cause of the fire and the extent of damage have not yet been determined. Senior fire officials are present at the scene, overseeing the operation and assessing the situation.
