The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the withdrawal of two metropolitan police commissioners, one deputy commissioner, and five police superintendents.
Moreover, it has issued an order to transfer officers-in-charge (OCs) of three police stations outside of their current workplace.
Today, the EC issued a notice in this regard.
The EC has made the decision to withdraw and transfer officials in order to hold the 12th parliamentary election in a fair and neutral way.
According to the EC notice, the decision to withdraw was made for the commissioners of the Barishal and Sylhet metropolitan police, the deputy commissioner of Brahmanbaria, and the superintendents of police in Habiganj, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Satkhira, and Meherpur.
At the same time, the EC has directed the senior secretaries of the home ministry`s public security division and the public administration ministry to submit suggestions to the EC for the posting of experienced and compatible officers in instead of the withdrawn ones.
The EC has also ordered the transfer of OCs from Manikganj Sadar Police Station, Manikganj Singair Police Station, and Gazipur Sreepur Police Station to posts outside the districts.
In this regard, the EC addressed a letter to the senior secretary of the public security division requesting that new staff be assigned to the three police stations.
