Banani police station and DB police have arrested 54 leaders and workers of BNP from Banani club in the capital. They were from Sirajdikhan and Srinagar upazilas of Munshiganj district . Allegedly, 'They were having an anti-state planning by holding secret meetings in the club.'
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the case on Monday (March 20) afternoon. He said that the arrested accused will be taken to the court soon.
OC Mostafizur Rahman said yesterday (March, 19) that, Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police raided Banani Club and arrested 54 leaders and activists. They were later taken to the DB office from the police station. A case has been filed against 56 people under the Anti-Terrorism Act, presenting two were absconding in the morning.
Among them are former Chairman of Srinagar Upazila Parishad Momin Ali, General Secretary of Sripur Upazila BNP Delwar Hossain and former General Secretary of Sirajdikhan Upazila BNP Awlad Ali.
Meanwhile, according to BNP sources, about 500 leaders and workers of Sirajdikhan and Srinagar Upazila BNP went to Banani Club on the invitation of Momin Ali. Being a member of Banani Club, Momin Ali often visited there. Everyone was invited there yesterday too.
