Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram today said the BNP knows that they will not be able to come to state power through election, so the party wants come to power in illegal way.
"BNP-Jamaat and their followers do not have believe in democracy, so they are hatching conspiracy to foil the upcoming general election," he told a discussion of Awami Jubo League, marking the 77th birth day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the city`s Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB).
Urging all to remain alert to BNP`s any kind of conspiracy, he hoped that the countrymen will cast their vote in favor of the AL`s election symbol boat in the upcoming general election.
AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said BNP-Jamaat are hatching conspiracy against the incumbent government as they want to turn Bangladesh into new Pakistan, but AL leaders and activists won`t let them do so.
Awami Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash presided over the meeting and its general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil conducted it. Pro-vice chancellor of Dhaka University professor Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal, acting president of Jubo League Dhaka north Jakir Hossain Babul, acting president of Jubo League Dhaka south Main Uddin Rana, north general secretary Md Ismail Hossain, south acting general secretary HM Rezaul Karim Reza, among others, spoke in the meeting.
