A 60-year-old activist of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, an asociate organisation of the ruling party, died after she fell sick in Dhaka's Shahbagh area while on her way home from the organisation's council held at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased is Komla Begum, an activist of Gazipur's Pubail thana unit of Mahila AL, said Sondha Begum, a co-activist of the unit.
They, according to her, arrived around 9:00am in Dhaka from Gazipur and took part in the sixth triennial council.
"Komla fell sick as we walked to the Shahbagh area to catch a Gazipur-bound bus. She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead," said Sondha.
The deceased's body was sent to the hospital morgue, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
