Bangladesh Awami League’s executive member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and former Food Minister advocate Qamrul Islam have been made presidium member of the party.
The party General Secretary Obaidul Quader confirmed the matter to media during a programme at Banani in the capital on Monday.
AL presidium member advocate Abdul Matin Khasru died of coronavirus last year while the virus claimed presidium members Mohammed Nasim on 13 June 2020 and Sahara Khatun on 10 July in the year.
With their demise, three post in the presidium fell vacant. Of them, Maya and Qamrul have been appointed in the two posts.
As per the party constitution, the presidium is comprised of maximum 19 members including the party president and general secretary. A total of 17 members were posted during the last council of the party in 2019.
AL presidium members are—Sajeza Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammed Nasim, Kazi Zafar Ullah, Sahara Khatun, Mosharraf Hossain, Pijush Kanti Bhattacharjee, Nurul Islam Nahid, Abdur Razzak, Mohammad Faruk Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Matin Khasru, Shahjahan Khan, Abdur Rahman and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
