To prevent Awami League’s "march to Dhanmondi 32" program to pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, students and the general public have occupied the area since midnight.

No central Awami League leaders have been seen at Dhanmondi 32 since Thursday morning.

The protesting students and citizens have gathered near Metro Shopping Mall, extending from the Shukrabad intersection.

A significant military presence is on the ground to maintain law and order, supported by police and BGB personnel.

Meanwhile, students and locals are on alert, checking anyone they suspect of being affiliated with the Awami League, especially if they were seen wearing black panjabi.

Thursday marks the 49th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On this day in 1975, Bangabandhu and most of his family were brutally gunned down by disgruntled members of the army.
