Jamaat denies Amir’s secret trip to Doha

Jamaat-e-Islami has denied claims that its Amir, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, recently made a secret trip to Doha, Qatar.

In a statement issued on Sunday by acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, the party clarified that the Amir did not travel to Doha or any other country and remained in Bangladesh during the mentioned period.

The statement described the circulating claims on social media as false and intended to discredit the party leader through misinformation and propaganda. It urged all parties to refrain from such activities.

To support its clarification, Jamaat-e-Islami provided a detailed account of the Amir’s public schedule from May 28 to 31.

On May 28, he attended a reception for recently released ATM Azharul Islam, held a meeting in Moghbazar, and visited the graves of former Jamaat leaders Ghulam Azam, Abdur Razzaq, and the wife of ATM Azharul Islam.

On May 29, he remained at his residence in Bashundhara throughout the day and was later present at the party’s central office in the evening.

The next day, May 30, he conducted a training workshop for Islami Chhatra Shibir in the morning and presided over an executive council meeting at the central office in the evening.

On May 31, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman traveled by air from Dhaka to Saidpur to address the concluding session of a two-day educational camp for the Rangpur-Dinajpur regional leadership, returning to Dhaka the same evening.
