A Dhaka court has granted a four-day remand for Salman F Rahman, former Private Investment and Industry Adviser to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for further interrogation in connection with the Shahabul Islam murder case filed at Ashulia Police Station.

In the same case, former Law Minister Anisul Huq has been officially shown as arrested.

The court issued the order on Thursday following a police petition seeking a seven-day remand for Salman F Rahman and permission to show Anisul Huq as arrested in the case.

After hearing from both sides, the court approved a four-day remand for Salman F Rahman and ordered Anisul Huq to be sent to jail.

According to case documents, Shahabul Islam was shot dead in Ashulia on August 4 during protests organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student-Public Movement.

Earlier in the day, both Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq were brought to court from prison.

Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq were initially arrested on August 13, following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government during the student-public uprising.

To date, the court has granted a total of 61 days of remand for Salman F Rahman in 11 different cases, while Anisul Huq has been granted 56 days of remand across multiple cases.

The investigation into the Shahabul Islam murder and related cases is ongoing.
