Awami League has nominated Md Shahjahan Alam Saju and Golam Faruk Pinku to contest the upcoming by-elections to Brahmanbaria-2 and Lakshmipur-3, respectively.
The party picked its candidates at a meeting of its Parliamentary Nomination Board held at Ganabhaban with party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The by-elections to the Brahmanbaria-2 and Lakshmipur-3 constituencies are scheduled for November 5.
As per the schedule, last date for submission of nomination papers is October 11 and scrutiny is October 12.
Earlier, on October 1, the parliament secretariat declared the two seats vacant, following the deaths of Lakshmipur-3 lawmaker AKM Shajahan Kamal and Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan.
