The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will begin on 20 February. The announcement was made on Thursday at 3:00 pm during a press conference held at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Hall of Bangla Academy by the Member Secretary of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, Dr Md Selim Reza.
In his written statement, he said that as part of the observance of Ekushey in memory of the language martyrs, Bangla Academy has been organizing the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair and cultural programmes for many years in coordination with publishers and other stakeholders. Over time, the event has become an integral part of the country’s cultural heritage.
He also noted that due to unavoidable circumstances, it was not possible to start the book fair on 1 February this year, as in previous years. Considering all aspects, the decision was taken to launch the fair on 20 February. A fair management committee has already been formed, and the opening date was finalized unanimously at several meetings of the committee.
