The Dhaka University unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir strongly condemned slogans raised during recent protests by left-leaning student groups against the acquittal of a political figure previously sentenced for wartime crimes.
The organization claims these slogans reflect a dangerous intent to revive political violence and intolerance on campus.
In a statement, Shibir alleged that certain slogans threatened them with death and echoed past rhetoric used to justify violence.
The pro-Jamaat student wing concerns that such behavior undermines a peaceful, democratic environment and attempts to provoke unrest.
They also criticized leftist groups for lacking student support and accused them of trying to sabotage the upcoming student union (DUCSU) elections.
The statement further mentioned that some members of a centrist student group were seen joining the protests, which, according to them, included inciting speeches.
The organization urged all to reject these divisive tactics and uphold the principles of coexistence and democratic participation on campus.
