Easy Chinese Dim Sum Recipes

Dim sum is a customary Chinese meal. They are small plates of dumplings and other snack dishes. They are naturally served with tea. Looking back to history it is found that Dim sums became popular after the tenth century as a small-portion meal with tea. Most modern dim sum dishes are usually related to Cantonese cuisine. Vegetable Dim Sum Recipe

First, prepare the soft dough with the given ingredients of the dough. Cover the dough with a wet kitchen towel. Now take a pan and saute onions and garlic for a while. Then add the mixed vegetables. Cook on medium heat for about 5-6 minutes or until they become soft. Remove from the heat and add salt, vinegar, and black pepper and mix well. 

 

Divide the dough into 10 pieces and give each wrapper a dumplings shape. Fill each dum sim with the filling and seal all around the parts. Steam them for about 10 minutes. Let them cool and serve them with tea. 

Chicken Dimsums Recipe

250 grams Chicken (minced), 2 Onions (finely chopped), 7 cloves Garlic (minced), 1/2 tablespoon Soy sauce, Salt

1 cup Flour, Oil, and Salt

First, prepare the dim sum wrappers and put flour, 1 tablespoon oil, salt, and a little bit of water in a bowl and knead it nicely. Then, when the dough is done, cover the dough with a wet clean cloth for 10-15 minutes. 

Now make the filling and saute the chopped garlic in a pot add minced chicken, salt, soy sauce, and onions and cook for 10 minutes or as long as the chicken is a bit tender. The filling is ready.

Then prepare the dim sums, and so divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Make a small circular dim sum with each part. Put some chicken filling in the middle of the disc and seal it using water and your finger. Prepare all the dim sums following the same process and cover them with a wet kitchen towel.

Now put them in a correctly oiled steamer and cook for about 20 minutes or as long as the outer covering of the dim sum starts looking glassy. Your chicken dim sums are ready. 

Shrimp Dim Sum Recipe

200 g shrimp, 3 tablespoon water chestnuts - minced, 4 tablespoons bamboo shoots - minced, 1 teaspoon ginger - minced, one tablespoon fresh chive - finely chopped, 1 teaspoon potato starch, 1 teaspoon cooking oil, ½ teaspoon sesame oil, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 pinch sugar, 1 pinch white pepper

40 g wheat starch, 40 g potato starch, 1 pinch salt, 1 teaspoon cooking oil, 80 ml boiling water.

First, prepare the filling and put aside 12 shrimp, and minced the rest of the shrimp. Take a bowl and mix whole shrimp, minced shrimp, and all the other ingredients for the filling. Put the mixture in the fridge.

Now make the dough. In a bowl put wheat starch, potato starch, and salt cooking oil, and add boiled water as much as required to make a smooth, soft dough.

To prepare the wrapper, divide the whole dough 12 equal pieces and coated with oil. Prepare a thin wrapper with each part. Now assemble the dumplings put the filling in the middle of a wrapper and seal the wrapper all around to make a crescent shape. Do the same process to prepare the other dumplings. Put all the dumplings in a basket and place the basket in when the water is boiling. Cook for 6 minutes. 

Beef Dim Sum Recipe

600 grams beef, minced, 75 grams coriander, 75 grams chopped onions, 1 piece dried orange peel, 2 pieces lemon leaves, 115 grams water chestnut, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon ground pepper, 1/3 teaspoon lye water, 2 teaspoons light soy sauce, 2/3 teaspoons baking soda, 3/4 cup water

1/3 teaspoon lye water, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/3 cup water chestnut powder

4 teaspoons chicken bouillon, 188 grams crushed ice, 6 tablespoons potato starch, 1/4 cup garlic sauce, 1/4 cup sesame oil, 1/4 cup onion oil, 1/3 cup water

First, blend the beef marinade ingredients and beef for 10 minutes and refrigerate for 10 hours. 

After 10 hours remove the beef filling from the refrigerator and blend to make a paste. Then add lye water, crushed ice, and sugar and mix well. 

Take another bowl and mix 1/3 cup water with water chestnut powder, chicken bouillon, and potato starch and mix well. Add this mixture to the beef filling and mix properly. Now dried orange peel, lemon leaves, water chestnuts, coriander, chopped green onions, garlic sauce, sesame oil, and onion oil, combine together, and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Then put 26 grams of filling on a dumpling‍‍`s skin. Give it a shumai shape and steam over high heat for 7-8 minutes. Your beef dum sims are ready. 

Seafood Dim Sum Recipe

¾ lb skinless, boneless sea meaty fish fillets, 6 pieces clams, 6 pieces shrimp, 1 to 2 mushrooms, 1 large carrot (sliced into coins), 5 to 6 crunchy vegetables, 3 tablespoons coconut aminos, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, salt, and ground black pepper, ⅓ cup oil.

First, take a heatproof bowl and put the fish, clams, shrimp, and vegetables so as to catch the juices. Put the bowl over a steamer basket and season with the coconut aminos, sesame oil, and salt and pepper.

Steam over low heat or medium heat for about 10-12  minutes. After 5-6 minutes remove the shrimp and vegetables from the bowl as they cook faster than the other ingredients. Set them aside by covering them so that they remain warm.

Keep continuing cooking the rest of the ingredients further as long as the fish is buttery and flaky and the clams are open.

Now add the shrimp and vegetable into the bowl, mix well and transfer it to a serving bowl. Enjoy with the juices or strain the seafood juices through a sieve for further use.
